Hey loves. Happy Monday. How was your weekend? We are over here in back to school prep mode. My kids got back to school Thursday, with open house and school supply drop off on Tuesday. We are counting down the days. For the most part they are all excited for a new school year and to see their friends. I am sad for summer to be ending but also excited for what the new school year holds and getting back into healthy routines.
I am linking up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday.
Friday August 14
Day off work with no major plans means time to play catch up and start getting ready for all things back to school. I started off the morning with meal planning as a family. I got my kids insight on what they want for school lunches when they pack, snacks at home, school snack for Anna, and Brian and I discussed dinners for the week. Then I ran to Aldi and got our grocery shopping done.
Anna requested chocolate chip mini muffins bites for her lunch. I made a batch and added extra protein, flax seed, and chia seeds. As soon as they cooled I put them in the freezer as they were magically disappearing from little fingers. (I pack lunches in the morning and will throw one in their bento box, by the time they eat it will be thawed)
I also made sourdough discard blueberry bagels for the first time. They were a bit messy but look like bagels for the most part.
Our neighbors came over with her kids. We enjoyed some wine, and heard about her birthday getaway to wine country, while the kids ran around outside. Brian made lobster rolls for dinner. It was a low key last Friday of summer break.
Saturday August 15
A slow start to our Saturday. I slept in until 8 and it was wonderful. I will say I didn't sleep well. We were woken up at 2am by 5 raccoons fighting with something in the woods. I grabbed a flashlight to distract them by shining it out our bedroom room and I had 5 beady eyes starring at me. Something fell out of the tree with a big thud. After that they stopped fighting but it took me a while to fall back asleep.
I spent the first part of the morning folding laundry and getting ready for the day. Brian took Austin to a Young Marines open house. At the parade on the 4th of July Austin saw the Young Marines walking and asked what it was. They were handing out flyers and he wanted to check it out. This maybe a new addition to our kids activities.
Fall back is in full swing. Game two of the season. It was a hot slow game. The girls had fun using their imagination and playing. I am thankful for siblings for Anna to play with.
Austin ended up getting the game ball. He had a great catch and scored two points.
After baseball we went home and relaxed. Then our neighbors came over for the kids to play.
Table for 8 for dinner please. We went to Old School Pizza in Avon Lake. I am not a big fan of the kids being on electronics at dinner, but sometimes we you want to enjoy your meal and have adult conversations you do what you got to do. (If it was just my kids we would have not taken tablets) All the kids ate and were behaved.
We got a bill dill pizza and it was delicious. On top was crumbled chips that gave it the extra crisp.
After dinner we went home to eat chocolate covered strawberries and to celebrate Katie our neighbor turning 40. She has gotten a weeks worth of birthday celebrations.
Austin and Clayton had a sleepover at our house.
Sunday August 16
A later start for church, as in 10 am means time to bake bacon and pancakes for breakfast. The kids were up by 7, had their tablet time then had a delicious breakfast before church.
Service was indoors because a theatre group rented out the pavilion and performances were over the weekend. There were over 20 kids at the service, which is a lot and awesome all at the same time.
After church I picked up Ella from her dads and stopped by Home Sense and Kirklands for their candle sale. I saw the best coffee mug for my sister since she takes clowns. I had to send her a picture.
While I was shopping Brian cut the grass and trimmed the flowers. He came inside with two armful of flowers to make bouquets with. I trimmed and separated into 4 vases/Mason jars.
Back to School Westfest Celebration. The marching band performed and there were different stations set up around the high schools two gyms with activities for the kids. The stations were put on by the high school sports teams and a few local companies. Anna got a bow from the cheerleaders and a W on her face.
Tried her hand at a potato sack race
tried tennis and had some fun.
It was promoted to all the schools and all ages. 70% was high schoolers. Ella went to see her friends and I got a picture of a few of them.
After the event we ended up at our neighbors house for dinner and for the kids to play.
We were home by 8 to start prepping for back to school week. Bedtimes are currently 9, this may change depending on how mornings go.
Ella painted a brick for Halloween.
Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,
Feel free to follow along.
XOXO

What a great weekend! I cracked up at the raccoon story. Wishing you a wonderful school year!
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in North Jersey we had about three acres of forest behind us and heard so many night sounds. My hubs didn't like sleeping with the window open because he said nature was too loud lol. There were times it sounded like tigers in the backyard but he assured me no. Hope you have a great school year!
