Let's Look How We Prep for the Holiday Season

Hey friends. Have you started thinking about the holidays yet? It is October already and I usually have already started shopping, if not finished my shopping. I have not even started yet, I feel like we are already behind. Yesterday and Today is also Amazon prime deals and again I feel like the deals suck. Over the summer was the same way, they raised the base price to make it look like it was on sale. Are you finding any good deals on Amazon?

I am linking up today with Erika and Shay for this month's Let Look How We Prep for the Holiday Season. This is the kick in the butt I need to start planning and get organized.

In January we looked at How we clean out closet
In February we looked at Little Things We Do Every Single Day
In March we looked at Our Grocery Carts
In April we looked at Our Daily Quiet Prayer Time
In June we looked at our Summer Schedules
In July we looked at Podcast and Shows We Binge.

In August we looked at Our Pantries

In September we looked at Quick Weeknight Dinners

This month we are looking at How We Prep For the Holiday Season

As of today there is:

Days until Halloween- 22

Days until Thanksgiving- 50

Days until Christmas- 77

They will all be here before we know it.

Halloween- To many people Halloween is not an official part of the holiday season. To me it is really the start of the Holidays. My kids do have their costumes already. Anna is going to be Ariel and she actually got the costume for her birthday. Austin is going to be a construction worker which we bought his costume at Dollar Tree in the $5 section. He is not one for elaborate costumes and most of the time changes his mind and refuses to wear something anyways. (like when he was baby Yoda and wouldn't wear the hat, or when he was Luke Skywalker and wouldn't wear the clothes that made him Luke). Ella is with her dad this year for Halloween and she doesn't have a Halloween party at school so I don't have to make/get her a costume this year, which is kind of sad too.

We go trick or treating with our kids because they are still young. There is a group of 3 families that all go together and we have a good time and our kids all have a friend and get along great. (we also take wagons/strollers to carry our beverages and extra candy when they get to heavy for the kids). Brian's mom, aunt and uncle come and pass out candy because they don't get any kids on their street. I still need to buy candy and glow sticks.

Thanksgiving-  We are hosting again this year. We have about 20 or so people who are invited. Last year I made a Thanksgiving planner to help eliminate stress and be more organized. I updated my planner, printed out a copy, and I am ready to go. I keep track of our guest list, menu and who is bringing what, what needs done before hand, shopping list, a prep schedule (I have been known to not pull the turkey out in time) etc. Want a copy of the planner? It is available in my Etsy store

Once it gets closer to Thanksgiving I will also print a few of the Thanksgiving Fun For Kids printables to keep the kids entertained. Also my kids love coloring and doing crafts.

Christmas- In our household Christmas is a big deal. My kids are already watching Christmas movies and one is already listening to Christmas music as well. If I had my way I would have my tree up right after Christmas, but since we host Thanksgiving we wait until Black Friday. We try to do all the things from making Gingerbread houses to driving around looking at Christmas lights.

I am currently in the process of designing a Christmas planner to help me (and other) get organized and eliminate stress of the holidays.

I am also working with our elf on the shelf Gus Gus for a fun year.

My mind is going a million miles an hour right now of everything we need/want to do for Christmas. I am brain dumping a list for you (and me) to help prepare and prep

  • Kids Christmas lists
    • for us
    • for family
  • Christmas Bucket List
  • Holiday cards
    • make and order

Also remember it is ok to say no. Saying yes to everything especially around the holidays can be very overwhelming and add more stress. And always ask for help. We were not meant to do everything ourselves.

What are your tips for prepping for the holidays?

  1. Yes to all the lists!! Mine help keep me sane, which is a hard job some days, haha! :) I loved reading how you prep for the holidays, and I also agree that they really start for me around Halloween, more so actually when the PSL comes out at Starbucks I think which is a tad earlier! I've found some good Amazon sales, but sadly I noticed them on the things that I already own, haha, so I just knew what their original prices actually were (not always what they write down as their original price).

Hope you have a fantastic rest of your week, Adrienne!!
